Keep Jerusalem United

Earlier this week we released a 15 minute documentary about the legitimacy of Israel and the dangers of dividing Jerusalem. Please watch the documentary on www.GivePeaceAChance.info where you can also order more information.

It is now important that we share this film with our friends and colleagues as the UN session is drawing near. This film can be shared with believers and non-believers alike, as it simply states historical facts and international law. It will shortly also have subtitles.

In the coming days and weeks many meetings will be conducted with leaders of nations. Please pray that doors will open up for the truth to be told and that the leaders shall listen and understand.

Key countries to watch and pray for

There are some UN-member states that have more influence than others. These are the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, USA, Russia, China, Britain, France as well as the other non-permanent members, currently Gabon, Nigeria, South-Africa, Lebanon, India, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Portugal and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

As we pray for our own nation to align with God´s purposes for Israel please remember also these key countries.

If you know of intercessors in any of these nations please feel free to pass on this information to them so that they can represent their own nation before the Throne of God as representatives of His Kingdom to come.

Please note that also South-Korea has a strategic role to play as the current Secretary-General of the UN Ban-Ki-Moon is South Korean. Please help us to get this message out to the many believers in South Korea so that they can pray and inform their leaders about the importance of blessing Israel and not dividing up the land. ( Joel 3: 1-3 )

Palestinians set date for UN statehood bid

After many months of speculations it now appears that the Palestinian statehood bid will be presented to the Secretary General of the United Nations Ban-Ki-Moon on Tuesday 20th of September. He will then bring it to the Security Council which next month will be chaired by Lebanon.

The announcement was made by the PA Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maky who admits that they expected a speedy and favorable treatment by the Lebanese chairman.

It still remains an open question exactly when the UN member states will have a chance to vote on the bid either in the Security Council or in the General Assembly.

ECI will be present in New York from the 12th to the 21st of September and will be on watch near to the UN also on the 20th.

Please continue to pray that more people will sign up for prayer and intercession for God´s peace plan for the Middle East as presented in His word and through His everlasting covenant with the Jewish people.

As the UN General Assembly is drawing closer I will now try to update you on a more freqent basis.

Yesterday I had a lomg discussion with a UN insider who gave me the following information.

Nobody knows, not even the Palestinians, what will eventually happen in New York in September. It is now clear that the UN General Assembly will be chaired by Qatar and the UN Security Council will be chaired by Lebanon ! This is bad news for Israel as it is up to the chairman of these two UN institutions to decide how they proceed with a possible Palestinian statehood bid.

There are currently two likely scenarios on what may happen if the statehood bid is not stopped. Either there will be a very swift presentation of a statehood bid at the UN which will then be processed quickly in an emergeny session OR the question will be postponed and dealt with and voted on later in the autumn or by December at the latest.

Our prayer is that the process will be delayed – or stopped all together. We need to pray against decisions and agreements made behind the scenes. The more time we have to present the legal case for Israel the better for the final vote. Our main objective for this prayer campaign is to warn and inform the nations about Israel’s Biblical, legal and historical rights. Please pray that every decison maker, from the chairman of the UN, all representatives of th Security Council and the Quarter will have heard and understood the truth before they vote.

Pressure intensifies on Israel as PM Netanyahu accepts 1967 lines as base for negotiations

With only a little more than one month left before the opening week of the 66th UN General Assembly it now appears that the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu reluctantly accepts the 1967 lines as a base for negotiations with the Palestinians. The Prime Minister has previously stated that ”a return to the negotiating table should be unconditional.”

Behind the change of mind is the increasing pressure from the international community to find a formula for having the Israelis and the Palestinians return to the negotiation table where each part would receive something in return; for the Palestinians an Israeli return to the 1967 lines ( with land swaps ) and for the Israelis a Palestinian acknowledgment of Israel as a Jewish state.

The Palestinians have not indicated that they are willing to accept Israel as a Jewsh state though all relevant international legal treaties clearly state this fact. They are also highly sceptical of the recent reports that the Israeli Prime Minister would be willing to accept the 1967 lines as a base for negotiations.

In the EU there is a considerable nervousness that the current positions would hurt EU unity as it is clear that the member states would not vote as a block. Also the US administration is trying to avoid a situation where a US veto would prevent Palestinian statehood since this could backfire against their attempt to build trust and good will in the Muslim world.

The Palestinian / Arab strategy seems to bear fruit as they continue to put pressure, not only on the Israeli government, but also on those UN member states which have not yet made up their mind and given in to their demands.

The UN General Assembly starts on 13th September and continues the following week with the general debate and a tenth anniversary of Durban conference. ECI will be present in New York during this time to watch and pray.
